LÇL windows & doors green statement

We are green beyond our logo

From the office to the manufacturing plant, LbL Windows & Doors takes pride in its green efforts. LbL Windows & Doors is an AAMA certified company and uses only the finest materials in our products. The American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) is the source of performance standards, product certification and educational programs for the window, door and skylight industry since 1936.

AAMA Certification

The AAMA Certification label on our products tells our customers that a product sample has been verified as conforming to the requirements of AAMA’s standards through independent laboratory testing and follow-up on-site inspections of our production line. For more information about AAMA and the green details they provide consumers, visit the AAMA Web site.

Mikron Vinyl

The vinyl material that LbL Windows & Doors uses, as well as our newest line of composite products, is from Mikron, winner of environmental awards for good stewardship of the environment. For more information please visit Mikron's Web site.

Cardinal Glass

We work in conjunction with Cardinal Glass for the majority of our glass products. For more information on Cardinal and its stance on environmental awareness, please visit Cardinal’s Web site.

Super Spacer®

Energy efficiency is an important part of being green. Super Spacer® is Warm Edge technology LbL is proud to use—it makes our product even more energy efficient than standard metal spacers. The patented structural foam design dramatically reduces condensation, delivering the highest performance in Warm Edge technology. Reduce, Reuse & Recycle

  • Vinyl is reground as “virgin” vinyl and reused for various products
  • Cardboard and “clean” glass are recycled and reused
  • “Dirty” glass is reground and made into various items, such as reflective highway dividers

LbL Windows & Doors is always finding creative ways to become more environmentally friendly

Here are just a few examples:
  • In Fall 2007, we developed and implemented a new program to re-use recyclable shipping blocks.
  • Some of our employees telecommute part-time, and we provide bus passes to all employees. By having fewer vehicles on the road, we significantly contribute to lowering environmental pollution.
  • We replaced our shop and office inefficient oil heaters with energy-efficient gas units.
  • We removed underground storage tanks before it was made mandatory.
  • We have been recycling aluminum and glass since 1963.
  • In our prior building, we voluntarily removed asbestos insulation from the boiler room.
  • LbL earned an energy tax credit upon changing the PVC recycler, which enabled us to recycle 100% of our PVC.
  • We recycle aluminum, steel, PVC, cardboard, paper and glass.
  • The glass recycler LbL uses has equipment that can separate glass from spacer and sealants, enabling us to recycle 100% of our glass.
  • LbL uses LPG forklifts which burn a cleaner fuel compared to diesel.
  • In Summer 2007, we purchased an energy saving air compressor for the new Finalé Window & Door line.
  • LbL participated in an energy-saving program, replacing all shop and office lighting. PGE rewarded our changes with energy tax credits.
  • Packaging for incoming glass orders are sent back to the vendor to reuse in subsequent orders.
  • Toner cartridges from printers and fax machines are recycled.
